WHO AM I?

  

 EDUCATING STUDENTS TO BECOME LEADERS OF THE 21st CENTURY...

 

As a global educator of the 21st Century, I feel privileged to serve my students as Principal of Our Lady of Fatima Parish School since July 2011. Growing up as ”Third Culture Kid” and global nomad, I have lived and worked in four continents, where I have experienced the best of many worlds.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATOR: COMMENCEMENT @ IB WORLD H.S. IN ASIA – STUDENT ASSEMBLY IN CALIFORNIA – SCHOOL VISIT IN NORTH AFRICA

 Born in Germany, raised in Belgium, Holland and Spain, I was fortunate to benefit from an international education and strongly diversified upbringing as a young child. Navigating with ease through new cultures, speaking multiple languages and adapting to new situations were constant learning expectations. After working for the United Nations at the N.Y. Headquarters, I earned my B.A. in Diplomacy and World Affairs (Economics emphasis) from Occidental College. As a wife and mother, I accompanied my husband on various international missions and begun my work at an IB World School in Asia. Together with my husband of 28 years, we raised our three daughters in Asia, Europe and the U.S.

My career as educator matured in Los Angeles , where I taught 5-8th grade Math, Science, History, Religion and Literature. As administrator of a K-8th Elementary and Middle School, I mentored faculty and students through the California Math and Science Project, the Edison Challenge and initiated numerous school innovations. I earned my  M.A. in Education from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, with an emphasis in social justice and technology. I have been blessed with amazing mentors in my life and am grateful for their honesty and friendship that has molded my faith, family and vocation as an educator.

 LIFE-LONG LEARNER STUDYING 7TH LANGUAGE WITH UCLA/AL-AKHAWAYAN  - INTERNATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY OF EDUCATION @ LMU – TECHNOLOGY SEMINAR AT ASCD IN BOSTON

Recognized internationally for excellence in education, I worked with the U.S. Department of
Education as Fulbright-Hays scholar studying with UCLA at Al-Akhawayn Royal University in North Africa. As an IB World School H.S. Principal, I have experienced first-hand the unique opportunities and challenges for my students in the rapidly emerging markets of South-East Asia.

GLOBALLY RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS         ECO-EXPEDITION IN ASIA – EARCOS CONFERENCE IN BORNEO – SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION IN S.E. ASIA – VILLAGE FESTIVAL IN NORTH AFRICA

I advocate for Catholic education as a parent, student, teacher and administrator. After 16 years of teaching and leading local elementary and international high schools, I enjoy sharing my unique expertise in faith-filled pedagogy and 21st Century skills for the benefit of my students.
